Hong Kong - November 28, 2012--(Business Wire)--New Star Electronic Technology Ltd. (New Star) announces the availability of Pong Research's mobile phone and iPad cases to the Hong Kong market. Using U.S.-patented technology, Pong is the only case that protects users from exposure to the electromagnetic radiation (EMR) given off by the device's cellular antenna, while strengthening cellular signal strength and improving battery life.  The technology is a multi-patented, ultra-thin flexible printed circuit board antenna that is unique to each type of mobile device.  Hong Kong-based New Star strives to make changes to people's daily lives through the introduction of quality innovative products.

All smartphone antennae emit EMR, a form of microwave energy, when transmitting to cell towers. Users' heads and bodies absorb a majority of this radiation while they use their mobile devices. The most intense EMR comes from radio frequency waves nearest the radiation's source-the antenna. In 2011, the World Health Organization classified mobile phone radiation as "possibly carcinogenic" to humans. In addition, the Office for National Statistics in the UK cites a 50% increase in frontal and temporal lobe tumors-the areas of the brain most susceptible to EMR emitted by mobile phones-between 1999 and 2009.

While a causal link between brain cancer and mobile phones has not been proven, cellular companies advise their customers to use hands-free devices whenever possible, and to keep the mobile devices at least 15mm away from the body. Also, governments such as the UK, France, and Israel have introduced warnings about the potential danger associated with the use of mobile phones by children and/or have proposed legislation requiring all mobile phones and advertisements to come with a health alert.

The growing concern about the health hazards associated with mobile device use is the reason that New Star has brought Pong cases to the Hong Kong market.  "We are very excited about introducing this unique product. As parents, professionals, and members of a community in this inter-connected world, we recognize very plainly that mobile devices are a part of daily life.  We became increasingly concerned about the potential harmful effects of radiation exposure on the well-being of our families and loved ones," said Trudy Chan, Chief Executive Officer of New Star.

About Pong Research

Pong Research Corporation is the world's first and only maker of technologically-advanced iPad and smartphone cases that improve device performance and protect users against cellular and Wi-Fi radiation.  Independent certified laboratories have proven that Pong's cell phone cases reduce users' exposure to potentially harmful cell phone radiation by up to 95% below international safety limits, and can improve reception and extend battery life.  As compared to other cases, Pong's iPad case not only reduces cellular radiation exposure up to this level and Wi-Fi radiation exposure by up to 72% but also improves cellular signal strength by 10x, increases range, improves Wi-Fi reception, and accelerates cellular upload speeds. Developed by a team of Ph.D.s from MIT, Princeton, Harvard and UCLA, Pong cases are embedded with a multi-patented, ultra-thin flexible printed circuit board antenna that redirects and diffuses the electromagnetic radiation that would otherwise be absorbed by the user's head and body. Now protecting people in more than 100 countries, Pong cases are easy to put on and take off, come in a wide range of fashionable colors and styles, and work anywhere in the world.
