BEIJING--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Youth Media, a China focused youth marketing and media company, announced today that its new online media portal Koobee.com.cn has secured the exclusive online rights to distribute the full 2009-2010 season of the English Premier League (EPL) to China's 30 million plus college students. Through its partnership with China Youth Interactive, Koobee delivers free TV-quality entertainment directly to the computers of China's students on a dedicated nationwide network targeted only to college campuses.
The English Premier League is the world's most popular sporting league and includes such household brands as Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. Starting August 15, 2009, Koobee will broadcast five live EPL games a week and selectively offer other delayed games during the week, making it the best platform for students to watch EPL with the most comprehensive number of live EPL games on school campuses, all free.
Koobee's EPL programming is part of a licensing agreement between Youth Media and WinTV for its Eurosoccer Channel, which is a real time subscription channel. In addition to the EPL, Koobee will also selectively offer matches from other high profile European leagues such as Italy's Serie A and Germany's Bundesliga.
"We expect that the English Premier League and the Eurosoccer Channel will be gateway content, introducing millions of viewers to all of Koobee's channels and services," commented Jay Rifkin, Youth Media's CEO.
"I think there is a wealth of talent at the various universities throughout China, and Koobee is developing exciting new tools and opportunities to enrich the campus experience and give students a platform to let their talents shine. With its premium content and unique platform, Koobee will also be able to meet the demands of advertisers by helping them reach China's college students, a key segment of the world's largest youth market, through fully customized solutions."
