PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Portrait Displays, Inc., a global leader in visual enhancement software for PC and mobile displays, announces a share warrant agreement with Intel Capital, Intel’s global investment organization.

J. Michael James, CEO and President for Portrait Displays said, “We are very pleased to have concluded the share warrant agreements with Intel Capital. This becomes further evidence of the importance the industry is putting on color vibrancy and accuracy of content.”

LCD- and OLED-panel color technology has improved significantly. Manufacturers and consumers want the greatest number of bright and vibrant colors. SRGB and wide-color gamuts on the display can give the most appealing images. However, the color gamut of the display needs to be controlled to match the color standards of the content being viewed—DVD, DSLR photos, Blu-ray®, Flickr®, and web-shopping sites all have different gamut standards.

“Color is the next big change in computer displays. A display’s ability to show more colors has always meant greater visual appeal. Accurate viewing of color is of greater importance as consumers spend more time shopping on the web than in brick-and-mortar stores. Consumers are sharing and viewing photos and video content daily. They are creating and editing content where color accuracy is imperative,” said Martin Fishman, E.V.P. of Portrait Displays.

“Portrait Displays’ technology aims to deliver a higher level of gamut and color to help fully implement color-managed displays on Ultrabooks™, tablets, and smartphones,” said Dave Flanagan, Managing Director, Intel Capital. “This is an undertaking that has dramatic benefits for the industry at large and will lead to richer and more vivid user experiences for consumers.”
