STOCKHOLM--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Information lifecycle management company Recall has been chosen as a preferred partner to implement a global scanning and digitizing solution supporting the accounts payable process for Asea Brown Boveri, Ltd (ABB), the Swiss-Swedish leader in power and automation technologies.

ABB’s Shared Accounting Services organization, of which Accounts Payable is a large part, operates in more than 30 countries. To streamline and standardize the Accounts Payable process, ABB explored suppliers who could support this important business process in a consistent and efficient manner worldwide. Since ABB processes approximately five million supplier invoices every year, the cooperation between ABB and Recall has significant potential for both parties.

All invoices will be scanned locally and sent to Recall’s Global Centre of Excellence in Östersund, Sweden where the latest technologies in optical character recognition (OCR) and intelligent character recognition (ICR) are in use. This unique solution will give ABB standardization in a global framework, allow for local flexibility in terms of the invoice information needed by each country, and reduce ABB’s administration costs and payment time cycle. All local scanning will be done according to Recall’s global standard operating procedures; in addition, this action reduces the need for transporting several tons of paper per year and helps to reduce ABB’s environmental impact.

“Recall provided us with an innovative and flexible solution that brings value to ABB’s Shared Accounting Services organization and customers,” said Martin Stauffer, Head of Shared Accounting at ABB. “This, combined with Recall’s security practices, global footprint and business improvement processes, led us to the decision to enter a cooperation with Recall.”

“Recall has the expertise and flexibility to develop solutions tailored to meet each customer’s information management needs,” said Christian Coenen, global vice president, Sales and Marketing, Recall. “We strive to partner with industry leaders, such as ABB, so they can focus on their core competencies and improve their business processes.”
