NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, one of the world’s leading law firms, announced that Beijing-based attorney Jiannan Zhang has been named a partner of the firm.

“We believe that our presence in China is important for our long term strategy, particularly as we see increased activity in many areas for which the firm is well recognized in the U.S., including restructuring, intellectual property, regulation, and corporate and finance matters. With Jiannan assuming a more prominent role in this growing office, we will be well suited to continue building our reputation in Asia,” said Christopher White, the Chairman of Cadwalader.

Since joining the firm in 2007, Mr. Zhang has advised numerous private enterprises regarding listing on U.S. stock exchanges, corporate compliance and governance issues, and capital raising in the U.S. He has extensive experience in advising businesses in various industries on corporate governance, business formation, ownership structures, mergers and acquisitions, bank financings, public offerings, private placements, and strategic alliances.

A frequent speaker in both the U.S. and China, Mr. Zhang has contributed to numerous publications and co-authored a chapter on China telecom for Guide to Telecommunications in Asia. He earned his J.D. from the University of Maryland, where he was Articles Editor of the Maryland Journal of International Law and Trade, and his Ph.D. in linguistics from Rice University. Prior to attending Rice, he taught English at a university in Beijing. He is admitted to practice in the State of Texas and is a member of the Texas Bar Association.
