GUANGZHOU, China--()--On May 12, TUV Rheinland, an international independent third-party testing, inspection and certification organization, issued a China-mark for Low VOC Emission and Production Controlled to Guangdong Carpoly Science and Technology Material Co. Ltd. (Carpoly). This is also the first domestic paint brand to receive this China mark. Representatives from both sides attended the online ceremony, including Shi Yisen, Vice President and Marketing Director of Carpoly, and Mickey Yu, Vice President of TUV Rheinland Greater China Softlines.

"Designed for children" is the selling point for its children’s paint products, with children as its potential special-group target users. Thus, its VOC emission, heavy metal content, formaldehyde and other properties are of high concern to consumers. Based on European standards, TUV Rheinland applied a double index evaluation system for product testing and production controlled for certification of Carpoly kids’ paint. The certification criteria for low VOC emission was mainly based on the requirements of the German Committee for Health Assessment of Construction Products (Ausschuss zur gesundheitlichen Bewertung von Bauprodukten, AgBB), the French label (Class A+), and Indoor decorating and refurbishing materials - Limit of harmful substances of interior architectural coatings in the Chinese National standard (GB 18582).

In the certification process, TUV Rheinland tested and evaluated the emission of nearly 350 kinds of VOCs, including carcinogens, to ensure extremely low VOC emissions. Carpoly kids’ paint also passed tests for odor, preservative testing, and heavy metal content. In addition, the professional auditors from TUV Rheinland also conducted a comprehensive inspection of the production process at Carpoly’s plants to ensure stability of product quality. In the future, TUV Rheinland will also conduct following audit every year, and conduct repeat VOC emission tests, so as to continuously supervise product quality and factory production.

"As a well-known domestic children's paint brand,” said TUV Rheinland’s Mickey Yu, “Carpoly has been at the forefront of the industry in terms of product development and standards. The quality and production process of Carpoly Kids Paint products have passed TUV Rheinland's comprehensive testing and auditing which refer to the domestic and international standards, proving that Carpoly persistent and continuous improvement to the high requirements for environmental protection and safety of children's paint.

“As early as 2004, Carpoly was the first to propose the concept of children’s paint, which has led to the continuous development and maturation of the children paint segment," said Carpoly’s Shi Yisen. "Our ‘Hainie Baby Child-friendly Full-featured Wall Paint’ have been awarded TUV Rheinland's Low VOC Emission and Production Controlled China-mark certification, and we are committed to creating a safe, green and environmentally friendly living environment for children's rooms to protect their healthy growth."

The TUV Rheinland China-mark is the first voluntary product certification mark for the Chinese market. It is designed to meet the needs of local customers in the Chinese market, with the main goal of enhancing brand awareness and pursuing quality excellence in China. The certification relies on TUV Rheinland's experience in China, its strong technical team, and its brand strengths to help consumers identify high-quality, high-performance products in the domestic market. In order to meet user needs for safety, product suitability and environmental protection, some Chinese manufacturers need voluntary certification that distinguishes them from other companies in order to gain the trust of the market, in addition to national mandatory certification. It is worth mentioning that the TUV Rheinland China-mark is the industry's first product with a unique "ID" number and QR code, which consumers can use to obtain information about certified products in the TUV Rheinland Certificate Database (www.certipedia.com) by entering the unique ID number or scanning the QR code.

Nowadays, with the heightening of people's consumption levels and environmental awareness, paint requirements for children's rooms are becoming more and more diverse. Giving your child the best possible environment is the goal of many parents. However, in the face of such uneven quality, consumers find it difficult to make purchase decisions with confidence. TUV Rheinland, as a leading global technology service provider, has years of experience in the field of product testing, and pays close attention to VOC emission level requirements.
