Expanding Size and International Participation at Reed Exhibitions' Japan IT Week Spring 2015

TOKYO--()--Reed Exhibitions Japan will be holding the 24th edition of Japan IT Week Spring from May 13-15 at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan.

The show is the largest annual business platform in Japan for IT professionals, covering various sectors of IT ranging from microprocessors to the latest applications. This year 85,000 professional visitors and 1,500 exhibitors will gather across 12 exhibitions; Software Development Expo,Big Data Management Expo, Embedded Systems Expo, Data Storage Expo, Information Security Expo, Web & Mobile Marketing Expo, Data Center Expo, Cloud Computing Expo Japan, Smartphone & Mobile Expo, IoT/M2M Expo, Direct Commerce Solutions Expo and Consumer IT Products Expo.

With the needs for high quality products/technologies and outsourcing increasing in the Japanese IT market, exhibitors joining Japan IT Week Spring from overseas has been rising. Reflecting such trend, the percentage of international firms will be1.6 fold higher and the overall scale will be expanding by more than 10%.

New Exhibition for Accessories, MVNO, smartphones & tablets

One of the highlights of this year’s show will be the newly launched exhibition - Consumer IT Products Expo (C-PEX) to aid business between cooperate professionals and firms looking to invest in the field of consumer IT products. Exhibits will include accessories (tablet/smartphone covers, electric chargers, cables, films, OEM of such products etc.), Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) and finished terminals such as smartphones, tablets, portable PCs etc.

PANASONIC and HUAWEI will be showcasing their latest terminals. A large number of firms from overseas will be participating especially for accessories OEM and MVNO. The launch of C-PEX is one of the contributing factors for the show expansion and increasing participation of overseas firms.

Trending “IoT”

Wireless M2M Expo” had been serving as the platform for various chip manufacturers, firms with exhibits related to connective technologies and applications to negotiate business at Japan IT Week Spring. As the concept of IoT continues to spread and emerge new business, it has been rebranded to “IoT/M2M Expo” in order to accommodate a wider range ofexhibits. Since the change of concept, increasing number of firms in the field has been joining resulting in a 2 fold growth.

From devices, operators, solution providers to applications related to IoT and M2M, a wide range of firms will be exhibiting such as chip manufacturers including INTEL, RENESAS ELECTRONICS etc., wireless chip manufacturers such as GEMALT, HITACHI, SIERRA WIRELESS, TELIT, U-BLOX, ALTIMA etc. Operators such as NTT DOCOMO, VODAFONE, TELENOR and solution providers including BOSCH, HITACHI etc. will also be exhibiting.

Special Session will be delivered at the conference held parallel to the exhibition where INTEL and CISCO SYSTEMS will explain newly generated market values, technical developments and essential next steps will be addressed. The 3 major Japanese operators DOCOMO, SOFTBANK and KDDI will also hold a Special Session.

Supporting technology - Embedded systems

With the expansion of IoT/M2M Expo, Embedded Systems Expo is also growing as supporting technologies for IoT and M2M will be showcased. Major firms exhibiting from Japan include MITSUBISHI, TOSHIBA, RICOH, NEC etc. and from overseas MICROSOFT, ADLINK, ADVANTECH, SWISSBIT, TRANSCEND etc. India and Belgium will be holding a national pavilion showcasing products and technologies unique to their country. Both pavilions will be expanding its size from the previous year, portraying their dedication to the Japanese market.

On the topic of embedded systems, NISSAN and TOYOTA will be holding talks on state-of-the-art technologies and automated driving systems at the Keynote Session. There will also be a Special Session where RENESAS ELECTRONICS and an expert from the UNIVERSITY OF TOKYO will be discussing the challenges and outlook of the embedded systems field in relation to trending topics like IoT.

Solutions for Information Security

With the rise in identity fraud, unauthorized access and cyber-attacks in Japan, information security is a major area of interest. The trending concept of IoT also inevitably addresses the need to direct attention towards security issues for connectivity. The size of Information Security Expo within Japan IT Week Spring 2015 will be increasing by 20%. Major firms exhibiting include TREND MICRO, FIREEYE, NEC GROUP, HITACHI SOLUTIONS, CANON IT SOLUTIONS, AKAMAI TECHNOLOGIES etc. will be showcasing various exhibits such as hacking preventions, DoS preventions, anti-virus solutions, internet intrusion protections, data delete and recovery products and services, IT asset management products and services etc.

To share what is required in security strategies MICROSOFT will hold a talk on the current status and future of ICT security at the Keynote for Information Security Expo. LAC will also be discussing what is to learn from past cases and how to build effective countermeasures.

Hot industry topics at concurrently held conference

Wide range of topics will be covered by a total of 91 conference sessions conducted by renowned speakers from the IT industry.

The Japan IT Week Spring Keynote Session will be held in the morning of the second day where SOFTBANK will be discussing the evolution of cloud computing and the firm’s strategies and vision for the future.
