FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif.--()--Oakley, Inc. today congratulated Bubba Watson on his victory at the 2014 Masters Tournament®. A proud member of the Oakley Golf family, Watson relied on the company’s performance golf shoes and apparel throughout the competition at Augusta National®, clinching his second Green Jacket® in three years.

“We are honored to salute this well-earned victory for Bubba,” said Oakley CEO Colin Baden. “With his unique approach and distinct style, he truly embodies the Oakley spirit in the world of golf. His talent, professionalism and flair are an inspiration, not only to us but to the next generation of young golfers.”

“I’m proud to be part of the Oakley family, and it’s a privilege to work with the Oakley Design and Development Team on apparel and footwear innovations that help me perform at the highest level,” said Watson. “Not only do I trust in their technology but I also connect with their whole attitude of keeping it fun while being driven to take chances and deliver more than anyone thought was possible. And to top it off, all the Oakley science is wrapped in a unique style that reflects my personality and desire to do things differently.”

A head-to-toe believer in Oakley golf innovation, Watson depended on the company’s CarbonPRO™ 2 golf shoes at the championship, taking advantage of their unrivaled traction and stability. A lightweight tour shoe, it combines the comfortable flexibility of Oakley Coreflex™ Technology with the stability of Dynamic Motion Control to help eliminate lost swing energy. Oakley Red Code® Plus adds premium cushioning and responsiveness, and Octostick reduces the wasted energy of unnecessary foot movement. The Pins Cleat System utilized for CarbonPRO 2 keeps feet low to the ground for swing stability while optimizing traction.

To stay focused among the talented field at Augusta, Watson relied on Oakley O Hydrolix™ technology for the cool feel of breathability combined with moisture wicking that kept him comfortably dry. His selections for the four days of competition, the Oakley Ellis Polo, Lyons Polo, Ashland Polo and Delta Polo also feature UV shielding and antibacterial action to reduce odor-causing microbes. The engineered seams of the latter three designs gave him a natural range of motion with a fit that contours to the body, and the Ashland Polo features O Form™ fabric with a Swing Engineered design for unrestricted motion.

Oakley O Hydrolix technology, quick-drying fabric and UV shielding were features of Watson’s chosen golf pants for the tournament, the Oakley Turnpin Pant and Take Pant 3.0. Their classic look comes with the performance of four-way O Stretch fabric for a fit that moves with the golfer. The Turnpin Pant is crafted with Oakley Factory Lite™ fabric that reduces bulk for the comfortable feel of low weight.

Baden continued, “Trust is earned. The Oakley icon is a style and performance promise, and pros like Bubba show how we deliver on that promise by validating our relentless efforts to create the best golf products available. Along with a love for the game, we share with Bubba a passion for possibility that defies conventional thinking, and we are honored to have such a talented player underscore the authenticity of Oakley Golf innovation.”

A native of Florida, Gerry Lester “Bubba” Watson Jr. was the 2012 Masters Tournament® Champion and is one of the longest drivers on the tour, capable of generating ball speeds approaching 200 mph and achieving distances greater than 350 yards. Watson turned pro in 2001 and played on the Nationwide Tour until 2005. His first PGA Tour victory was in 2010, and his second came the following year.
