AIPN International Conference

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Industry leaders, experts and advisors from the private sector, governments and national oil companies will assemble at the AIPN International Conference October 18-21, 2009, in Bangkok, Thailand, to address on a global and regional basis how recent changes within the energy industry and the global economy will change the type of deals that are made, the resource holders who are pursued, the alliances that are developed and the protections required to be successful in the ever-changing energy world.

The much-anticipated event is organized by the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and is endorsed by the Department of Mineral Fuels of Thailand and the Petroleum Institute of Thailand. Dr. Kurujit Nakornthap, Director-General of the Department of Mineral Fuels will present the official opening keynote address. Other globally recognized speakers include Daniel Johnston, Dr. Pedro van Meurs and Martin Lovegrove.

“We’ve seen enormous volatility in the oil and gas world over the past two years,” said Martin Lovegrove, Vice Chairman, Oil and Gas, Standard Chartered Bank, cited by the Times Online as the “go to” advisor for oil and gas. “With the one-year anniversary of the oil price collapse upon us and the onset of new 2010 annual budgets, the timing of the AIPN conference is perfect to consider what’s on the horizon for mergers, acquisitions and divestments activity and the myriad of ideas being considered in the industry.”

Also part of the two and one-half day program will be top oil and gas executives from IOCs and NOCs including Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Pertamina (to be confirmed), PTTEP and Shell, who will discuss how they are addressing new business development in volatile times – either through E&P activities or LNG sales and purchases. In addition, space will be available for exhibitors to showcase their upstream farmout, sale or investment opportunities to the international negotiators, bankers and dealmakers in attendance.
