SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Texas Armoring Corporation (TAC), the world leader in lightweight armored passenger vehicles, announced today that requests for bulletproof cars, trucks, and SUVs have skyrocketed as a result of kidnappings-for-ransom across the globe.

TAC clients in Nigeria, Greece, the Philippines, Mexico, Peru, the United States, Honduras, Central Asia, India, Pakistan, and Eastern Europe are no longer living in fear since kidnapping-for-ransom has become an almost daily occurrence throughout the world.

“When they come to us, our clients are scared for their lives and for the lives of their families,” offered Trent Kimball, President/CEO of TAC. “From our experience, kidnapping-for-ransom is at an all-time high — it’s literally a pandemic, and with the current financial crisis, even criminals are getting desperate. Business owners, professionals, political figures, religious leaders, executives, and their families have all become targets and no one feels safe.”

TAC, which produces vehicles capable of defeating black market armor-piercing rifle rounds (e.g., 7.62 NATO x 51 AP), has put together an array of anti-kidnapping gadgets ranging from secure deadbolt door locks and electric shocking door handles to road tack dispensing systems and advanced smoke screens. The company has also seen an increase in installations of 360-degree video surveillance DVR systems in vehicles. To meet demand, TAC also announced plans for a state-of-the-art night vision system that will allow clients to foresee threats in the darkness in addition to a specialized anti-magnetic undershield designed to block the placement of explosives on vehicles.

“Unfortunately, entrepreneurial criminals throughout the world have realized that kidnapping-for-ransom is a lucrative business — especially in the midst of a chaotic financial crisis. Bloodshed in Honduras, mob-violence in Greece, massive organized kidnapping plots in Nigeria (700 motorcycles were recently purchased to carry out kidnappings in Abia), and murders in Bulgaria and throughout the Americas are just a few examples reported by the media,” said Kimball.

“And, the problem has even spread to the United States. Right now, Phoenix, Arizona is in the running to claim the title as the kidnapping capital of the world, second only to Mexico City,” he said.

“Ultimately, our vehicles are completely low-profile and offer advanced protection against kidnappings-for-ransom. Our goal is to protect our clients and their families — which is something our engineers have done successfully here in San Antonio, Texas for over 30 years,” Kimball added.
