24 November 2011-(BUSINESS WIRE)-- With the end of 2011 just round the corner, thoughts in the Asian wine and spirits industry will be turning to April next year, as preparations for Wine&SpiritsAsia2012 (WSA2012) get underway. To be held at the Singapore Expo from 17 - 20 April 2012, the biennial event brings together the global wine and spirits trade, delivering to Asia a superior portfolio of unequalled diversity from both old and new trade players across four show days.

Strong representation of international wines and spirits

Following the resounding success of WSA2010, the upcoming 12th edition of WSA will once again be co-located with FHA2012 (Food&HotelAsia2012). Poised to occupy an expanded 7,000 square metres of exhibition area, WSA2012 will feature more than 165 exhibitors, of which 80 per cent will hail from overseas, from 25 countries and regions.

Since its inception more than two decades ago, WSA has gained credibility and recognition amongst industry players as one of the most important and effective marketplace for growing the wine and spirits business in the region and in establishing a significant footprint in Asia. This can be seen by the presence of a number of key exhibitors for the 2012 event, including seven international group pavilions from Australia, Austria, Chile, France, Germany, and Italy.

A premier stage for sourcing, networking and knowledge

Singapore Exhibition Services (SES), organiser of FHA and WSA, has further highlighted that new players in the global wine market will be making their debut appearance in their exhibition to gain a slice of the unparalleled value WSA2012 will generate. Chile, for the first time, will take up a pavilion at WSA2012 to host wineries from the country's largest wine producing regions.

The perennially popular wine masterclasses and networking events also mark their return to the show, tackling many of the key topical issues and debates surrounding the wine and spirits trade. Additionally, industry experts will be presenting seminars on subjects ranging from newest market trends to wine retailing in Asia. These special events allow established producers and new players, looking to develop a presence in the Asian market, to gain new knowledge on the industry, as well as provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and tips between professionals.

Revealing Asia's choice for the Asian palate

The WSA Wine Challenge 2012, once again, takes centrestage; with the winning wines being exhibited and served for tasting at a dedicated section of the exhibition.  The prestigious competition, now in its fifth edition, is organised to the highest international standards, with distinguished panel of judges comprising of reputable sommeliers, wine writers, buyers and educators. The judges will be headed by the Chief Judge Mr. Joel Payne - a highly respected Europe-based American wine expert. The WSA Wine Challenge will be held on 21 - 22 March 2012; a month ahead of the exhibition opening.

Ms. Ting Siew Mui, Project Director for WSA2012 from SES, says, "WSA has, in the past 22 years, been actively promoting the wine and spirits industry. With WSA and FHA to be held in one convenient location, WSA offers the perfect environment for exhibitors to establish and expand their business networks and contacts in Asia by identifying new channel representatives or building on existing channel infrastructures."

Ms. Ting adds, "WSA2010 brought with it several exciting new developments, and reinforced the importance and relevance of the event in the global trade. We are looking forward to building on the success of new features introduced previously, as well as looking to ensure that WSA2012 continues to be an important platform in which producers and wineries can meet and establish beneficial partnerships with suppliers and buyers and aid in their businesses."
